OR: PacifiCorp Must Pay Over $42M to Property Owners for Fire Damage
Last Tuesday, an Oregon state jury determined PacifiCorp owes over $42 million dollars in compensatory and punitive damages to nine homeowners and the owners of a summer camp whose properties were damaged by wildfires in 2020. Plaintiff’s clam the Oregon utility failed to shut off its power lines in high wind; a separate jury has already determined PacifiCorp is liable for gross negligence in starting the fires.
